THE SILVER DINER STORY
Silver Diner was inspired by founder Robert Giaimo’s childhood. Having grown up in diners, he had always seen them as neighborhood gathering place. He partnered with Chef Ype Von Hengst, to create a new diner; one that serves updated American Classics and healthier options at reasonable prices. They visited over 500 diners before opening the first Silver Diner in Rockville, MD in 1989. Today Bob and Ype oversee 18 locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic.

Silver Diner reinvented the diner experience by creating an award-winning menu featuring classic American favorites with a contemporary twist — plant-based/vegan entrees, gluten-free, heart-healthy options, healthier kids menu, entrées with fewer than 600 calories, and healthier kids menu. In fact, Silver Diner’s Kids Menu has received national acclaim and has been a model for restaurants offering healthier options for kids.
